The multi-use Lakewood Municipal Center was designed to be the focal point for all city departments and activities. The Center originally incorporated all city offices, the municipal court, and police department.
The architectural concept consists of two rectangular buildings joined by a common atrium enveloped in glass. The atrium contains lobby and reception functions and is shared space for all employees, orienting visitors to each department. The long, low-rise building serves as a gateway to the City's 200-acre Belmar Park and encourages access through its 24-hour lobby.
