Starting in 1910, the New York firm Tracy, Swarthout & Litchfield designed Denver's primary Federal building, which was later referred to as "the Mile High City's grandest Neoclassical structure."

The original design, captured in the 1910 linen construction drawings, provided a reference for the interior and exterior restoration while providing a framework and vocabulary for the rehabilitation, renovation, and modernization of the building. The outcome is the seamless integration of new systems and elements with older, original attributes of the building. The Byron White United States Courthouse is a Denver Landmark and has been placed on the National Register of Historic Places.
