1001 17th Street Registered LEED O&M

1001 17th Street is a 35-year old, twenty-story, multi-tenant mixed office and retail complex located in Denver's financial district. Barber Architecture designed the interior remodel of all tenant floors in the tower, and created a completely new 40,000 square foot retail podium on one half of the downtown site. LEED Existing Buildings: Operations and Maintenance (O&M) was chosen as the registration option, as the tower's exterior envelope was to remain unchanged, and the central mechanical plant was already functioning at an acceptable level of efficiency.

After verifying that the LEED O&M prerequisites could be met, the design team reduced water use through the installation of new water-conserving fixtures, and through the optimization of building operations and maintenance procedures to ensure peak performance of all building systems. The building has the potential for a Gold rating.
